THREADING CONJECTURE

Site Specific Art Installation. 2016. Dimensions: 7.5ft high x 7.5ft wide x 12ft deep.

Constructed using 330ft + of my own long hair woven as threading medium. The strands are intertwined with 400+ small pieces of hand-formed bones, small round mirrors and twisted pieces of metal copper containing written assumptions. Threading Conjecture seeks to create a dialogue between biological cellular memory and mental memory. Beyond recollection and wonder, beyond the rational consideration of past events lies, for each of us, a more potent and inescapable history which is both mental and physical. Perhaps it is the collective of both biological and mental memories that have the capacity to influence thoughts and thread conjectures within our present and future states of mind. This work was exhibited at Phoenix Institute of Contemporary Art (phICA) February – March 2016.
